History was made on 18th July 2018 when the APC-led government represented by Honourable Minister for Aviation, Captain Pilot Hadi Sirika unveiled the new name, logo, colour scheme & structure of Nigeria’s new national carrier. APC UK Chieftain, Comrade Ade Omole led the UK Diaspora delegation to the historic event that held at the famous Farnborough UK Air Show.

This is another milestone achieved by the Buhari administration in its determination to improve the country’s infrastructure and aviation landscape. The honourable minister reiterated that the delivery of a new national carrier will:

• encourage sectoral reforms;
• generate jobs;
• yield foreign exchange;
• drive the growth of tourism and other sectors; and
• re-ignite national pride.

Sirika also confirmed that the new national carrier will help Nigeria to maximise the benefits of the single African air transport market initiative, which the African Union launched in January 2018 in order to liberalise civil aviation in Africa.

APC UK Chieftain, Ade Omole commended and congratulated the cabinet and the ministerial team on behalf of Nigerians in the Diaspora, he went further to say "a national airline is an embassy with wings, transporting culture, cuisine, commerce and goodwill around the world. He added that the new national airline will stimulate the growth of related sectors within the Country and attract further investment into:

• increasing manpower in the aviation sector;
• maintaining aircraft;
• catering;
• developing airports; and
• creating aviation hubs.

The soon-to-be in the sky, Nigeria’s national carrier will be a world class PPP (public private partnership) managed airline with domestic, regional and international operations. There will be zero government interference.

According to Mr Sirika, Nigeria will receive the first set of five airplanes for the airliner on December 19th, 2018. “We intend to get a 30 aircraft market in five years. But we will begin with five aircrafts on the day of launch.

In less than four years, President Buhari has fused his own ideas with APC’s program, which is strong on infrastructure. The APC-led government has brought hope and respect to Nigeria. President Buhari is finishing his first term strong on war against corruption, foreign policy, security and the economy. The President is tirelessly working for Nigeria and will continue to do so with hard work, diligence and honesty.
